Refuge Stelvio Pass

GARIBALDI REFUGE AT STELVIO PASS

The Garibaldi Refuge at the Stelvio Pass, in the Stelvio National Park, is also called DREISPRACHENSPITZE, and takes its name from the fortress of the same name on which it is located (m.2845), located at the Stelvio Pass (m. 2758) near the border between the province of Sondrio, that of Bolzano (once Austrian territory) and the Swiss canton of Grisons.

The stones placed two meters from the refuge highlight the borders between Switzerland, Lombardy and South Tyrol.

The toponym Dreisprachenspitze translated from German means “Top of the three languages” and underlines the fortuitous meeting of three spoken words that is expressed in the mixture of Italian, German and Ladin.

The building has the appearance of a castle and from the terrace you can admire in all its majestic magic and magnificence the Ortles (3905 m.), the Bernina (4049 m.) and the distant peaks of the Palla Bianca – Weißkugel ( 3739 m.) and Piz Buin (3312 m.).

For fans of the “Great War“, however, the vision of the finds is available, found in the area, also visible on the different walkways that depart from this place and which – in the eyes of those who love nature – seem the right link between heaven and earth.
